CREDITON – The Crediton Cubs fastball team kept its winning streak alive by defeating Innerkip 15-0 in four innings, Ilderton 5-1 and Delaware 9-3.
Crediton 15 vs. Innerkip 0
Every team player contributed defensively and offensively to the mercy against Innerkip. The Cubs jumped on the scoreboard in their first inning notching 10 runs. Julie Prout hit two singles with two trips to the plate in one inning.
The local squad only faced 12 batters in the four innings. Marianne Scott was hot IN the pitcher’s position, throwing five strikeouts and reliever Natalie LaPorte added two.
Kerri Fulton pounded out two doubles and a single while Missy Pertschy’s bat was hot with a home run and two singles. Chantelle Lewis went three for four at the plate.
Two singles apiece were hit by Amber Preszcator, Prout, Kathy Glen, Ange Gould, Megan Preszcator, and Mary Glen. Carissa Desjardine scored her sister Missy Pertschy with a double in the second inning.
Crediton 5 vs. Ilderton 1
The Cubs kept their opponents to a single run by only allowing five hits in seven innings. In five of the seven innings, the Cubs closed the doors with three up, three down.
Prout led her team at the plate with three singles. LaPorte and Fulton pounded out a double and single while two single hits apiece came from the bats of Pertschy and Lewis. Mary Glen and Megan Preszcator added single hits.
Mary Glen had a spectacular catch in field while Pertschy, Lewis and LaPorte stopped their opponents’ triple with a great play at third base.
Crediton 9 vs. Delaware 3
The Crediton squad displayed another whole team effort while defeating Delaware 9-3. All nine players contributed to the win with hits and big plays in the field.
Amber Preszcator went four for four at the plate with one being a home run scoring three runs. Gould pounded out a triple and single and Kathy Glen added two singles and a sacrifice bunt.
Mary Glen belted out a long home run in the second inning and also played a very tight right field with three big catches.
Fulton and Lewis pounded out a double in the fifth inning to break the game open. Single hits came from the bats of Prout and Pertschy.
Scott pitched strongly for Crediton with relief from Kathy Glen.
The Cubs head to Innerkip this weekend for a tourney and then meet some tough competition next week against the Byron Intermediate team on Monday night in Byron and then head to Oneida on Tuesday night.
