CREDITON - The Crediton Cubs kept their winning streak alive this past week notching three more wins bringing their streak to five games.
Pitcher Marianne Scott faced only 14 batters in a 21-0 trounce over the Southwest Juniors. Scott hurled six strikeouts in the four inning game.
The Cubs squeaked out a 3-2 win over Dorchester Purple in a rain-drenched game and the next evening travelled to Dorchester to play the Juniors defeating them 20-1.

The Cubs jumped on the scoreboard early in the first inning scoring six runs. For the next three innings, the local squad had a slugfest scoring four in the second, three in the third and mercying its opponent in the fourth with seven runs.
Julie Prout and Megan Preszcator led their team at the plate with a double and two singles. Ange Gould pounded out a homerun in the first inning and added a double in the fourth. Nikki Cyr and Amber Preszcator had powerful swings adding a triple and a single apiece.
Kerri Fulton hit two singles and walked twice to help the cause while Natalie LaPorte pounded a double in the fourth inning. Kathy and Mary Glen added singles.
Crediton 3 vs. Dorchester Purple 2
It was a soggy ball game in Centralia when the Cubs met the Dorchester Purple team. With three breaks due to rain delay, the sun finally came out in the fifth inning to allow the teams to finish the game.
It was a tough task for Crediton pitcher Chantelle Lewis due to the slippery grip. In the fourth inning in a downpour, the play of the game allowed them to get off the field scoreless. With bases loaded, second baseman Amber Preszcator caught a line drive, touched second and finished the triple play after tossing to her sister Megan at first base. The Preszcator sisters had previously performed a spectacular double play.
The bats were quiet throughout the game but the Cubs were still able to stay on the winning side. Missy Pertschy, Kathy Glen and Lewis hit two singles apiece. Amber Preszcator hit a triple in the third inning while single hits came from the bats of Prout, Gould, Megan Preszcator and Mary Glen.
Lewis was the starting pitcher with relief from Kathy Glen.
Crediton 20 vs. Dorchester Juniors 1
Crediton’s bats were very alive during a recent game in Dorchester. Even after five walks due to hit by pitches, the Cubs still pounded out some big hits.
Fulton’s bat was powerful pounding out two doubles and a triple. Megan Preszcator went three for four at the plate with three singles. Gould pounded out two doubles and two long triples came from Kathy Glen and Scott. Prout hit a double and single while LaPorte hit two singles. Mary Glen was the recipient of two hits by the pitcher and successfully scored on both.
LaPorte was in top form facing only 15 batters notching six strikeouts.
The Cubs travelled to Glanworth on Monday night and have a very busy schedule coming up.
Crediton hosts Innerkip on July 12, travels to Ilderton on Wednesday and then to London (Oakridge) on Thursday night.
The Cubs will be pleased to have their captain Carissa (Pertschy) Desjardine back in the lineup. Carissa took some time off to marry Dave Desjardine. Congrats Carissa!
