EXETER – In May 2009, the community of Exeter hosted the first annual Exeter town wide yard sale. Nearly 20,000 people arrived in the community to shop and take in the hospitality that South Huron has to offer.
This year’s event is planned on being held Sat.,May 8 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. (the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend).
It offers an opportunity for you to sell what you really don’t need, then go buy something new for that special lady on Mothers Day.
As we approach closer to the day of the sale, families can e-mail me a list of their particular sale items they want advertised.
It would be posted on the Municipality’s website along with information about the day including any other events you, the community, have planned.
Organized community or sports groups, schools and businesses are encouraged to get involved by having their own sale, food stands or maybe host a breakfast. The ideas are endless and yours to develop. Businesses can have their own spin on how to promote themselves.
People who live in rural South Huron and area who want to get involved are encouraged to do so.
Advertising will be sent to newspapers, local radio and television in a 100 mile radius of South Huron.
In order for us to proceed with this community initiative I will need a pledge from those that are interested. If I receive a pledge from 100 homes and businesses by the 25th March I will proceed with the planning. Please send an e-mail to gfinch@cabletv.on.ca or call 235-2099 for more information. There is no cost for you to participate. This is a win win situation for everyone.
Let’s get behind this initiative and bring people to town!
