An event Friday night at Wilberforce Public School in Lucan gave the chance for the community to check out the new school and help raise money for new playground equipment. Fundraising chairperson for the school council Barb Van Arenthals said about 500 people attended. “It was great,” she said, adding over $5,000 was raised towards playground equipment. Friday night included activities for the kids, 30 local vendors and a bake sale. In the above picture Meleena Southcott has her face painted. Van Arenthals thanked the community for making the event a success. She added fundraising for the playground equipment will continue, with a goal of $100,000. So far about $25,000 has been raised.
